Takeover
One participant temporarily taking another's shift — one-directional and time-bounded.
A takeover is when one participant covers another's shift without trading their own. Unlike a swap, it's one-directional: the person taking over doesn't give up a shift in return.
Takeovers are for the cases a swap doesn't fit — vacation cover, a same-day favor, an illness. The original assignment isn't gone, it's just paused; the takeover has an end-time, and when that window closes the original assignment resumes automatically.
In Dynaro, a takeover is created with /oncall-take and is always time-bounded. At the end of the takeover window, Dynaro reverts to the original schedule and updates the user group back — no cleanup required.
In practice
Marco is out sick on Wednesday. Priya runs /oncall-take to cover just that day. Thursday morning, the takeover window ends and Dynaro hands the shift back to Marco automatically.
